This is a real challenge but we are not alone ! SIGSYNCELL is part of the wider SynCellEU European consortium on synthetic cells, a network made of 200 research group across Europe – and the world – in a joint effort to elucidate how cells work and to develope greener, nature-inspired technologies that can contribute to a healthier, greener future.

  • ComeInCell MSCA DN

ComeInCell is a MSCA DN, at the forefront of synthetic cell research together with SigSynCell.
Its mission is to develop advanced cellular mimics that integrate functional membrane structures and biomolecular condensates. By creating these next-generation synthetic cells, we aim to shed light on complex cellular mechanisms, particularly those involved in neurodegenerative diseases and membrane trafficking, as well as accelerate drug discovery and therapeutic innovation.
As sibling networks working in the field of synthetic cells, ComeInCell and SigSynCell will hold joint events bringing together DCs and PIs.

  • Allozymes

Allozymes, a cutting-edge biotechnology company specializing in the development and production of high-quality enzymes, has built an enzyme engineering platform relying on a proprietary microfluidics technology allowing ultrahigh throughput screening. By combining computational biology capabilities with the big data generation capabilities of our microfluidics screening platform and in house sequencing analysis workflows, Allozymes makes sure to produce enough experimentally validated data to develop robust and accurate enzyme evolution pipelines.

  • BPP - Badische Peptide & Proteine

BPP is a specialist in biotechnological production and application of polypeptides. Our three mature platforms are branded as “The Better Peptides Platform”. The first platform enables the production of linear peptides. The second platform enables the production of cyclic peptides. Both of these platforms work using a fusion protein and share the same downstream process for peptide purification. Both processes allow for scar-free production without residual amino acids in the sequence. Any desired linear sequence may be produced and the amount of different cyclic peptide classes is vastly expanded. The third platform involves a gene delivery tool that helps transport nucleic acids into cells. This platform involves a bipartite protein that contains two domains. Their combination allows for the transport of various kinds of nucleic acids over different types of membranes. This latter system will be available as a kit for microbial applications end of 2024.

  • Technische Universiteit Delft

Top education and research are at the heart of the oldest and largest technical university in the Netherlands. Our 8 faculties offer 16 bachelor's and more than 30 master's programmes. Our more than 25,000 students and 6,000 employees share a fascination for science, design and technology. Our common mission: impact for a better society.

TU Delft is the coordinator of the European Synthetic Cell Initiative (SynCellEU), a network of excellent European research laboratories, institutions and companies of which we, the SigSynCell DN, are part of.

  • University of Bordeaux

The University of Bordeaux, heir to a history of nearly six centuries, is a multidisciplinary university with deep regional roots that reach out to the European and international level. By linking research and education together, the University of Bordeaux is preparing the citizens of tomorrow and helping them become successful in both their personal and professional lives. Recognised for its capacity for innovation and awarded the "Initiative of Excellence" label, the University of Bordeaux regularly contributes to major scientific advances with its academic and socioeconomic partners in France and abroad. The university has participated in building the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and Research Area (ERA), while developing actions of international cooperation. Throughout, the University of Bordeaux has remained loyal to the intellectual and cultural values as well as the open-mindedness and freedom of thought inherited from the great figures of the Renaissance and the Enlightenment.
