Eleni
Kopsini has strong
background in Biology from the National and Kapodistrian
University of Athens and a Master’s in Biotechnology, Eleni
has explored synthetic biology and biochemistry, laying the
foundation of her current work. In
SigSynCell, we will focus on harvesting energy through light
and chemical control in synthetic cells. Her research aims to
mimic the energy-harvesting processes of biological cells by
constructing microcompartments in microfluidic systems,
functionalized with enzymes whose activities depend on
external chemicals like NADH/NAD+. By employing
photoactivation to trigger resource consumption and assembling
responsive systems through self-assembly of functional units,
she aims to develop innovative synthetic cell systems.
